A Hornsea route experience is incomplete without a trip to the market town of Hornsea, once known as the 'Lakeland by the sea'. Hornsea boasts a large stretch of shingle and golden sandy beach with protruding yet beautiful groynes stretching out to sea.

The beach is at either end of the Trans Pennine trail, followed by walkers, horse riders and cyclists, making this an excellent place for outdoor enthusiasts.

This is a great place for sea activities, with large groups of sea swimmers and surfers flocking to the area. You can occasionally see seals at the beach or whales in the distance for wildlife lovers. In addition, like many places on this stretch of coastline, it is an excellent place for bird watching.

The Promenade running behind the beach is accessible to all. It has many attractively landscaped gardens, splash areas for kids and plenty of eateries and facilities.
