6.7 Miles Linear Walk

This walk starts from Robin Hood's Bay and joins the Cleveland Way, a long-distance footpath along the northeast coast until the journey ends in Whitby.

Navigation is a simple affair, and a map is hardly necessary; keep the sea on your right as you follow the coastal path with its innumerable ups and downs. The erosion of the cliffs has caused the path to be diverted in one of two places, but the waymarking is good throughout

Once at Whitby, a visit to the Whitby Abbey and its atmospheric ruins is a must, then head through the town's cobbled streets.
