There's no shortage of events on the way this month, from nature walks to music festivals taking advantage of the sunshine and clear weather June brings. Here are just a few events you can add to your itinerary, perfect for families, couples, or solo trips along the Yorkshire coast.
Bridlington - Yorkshire Puffin Festival, June 1-2
The puffins are back! The Flamborough Cliffs nature reserve is hosting a two-day festival celebrating the noble puffin - and its fellow seabirds - at one of the best places in the UK to witness them from land. This family-friendly event features guided walks, wildlife cruises, crafting, and more. Admission is free, but they do accept donations to help protect these vanishing seabird habitats.
Hornsea - Hornsea Open Gardens, June 16
Hornsea residents have opened their private gardens to the public for a pleasant Sunday walking tour. This is a self-guided tour with maps available throughout the tour, starting at The Bandstand in the Memorial Gardens where tickets are for sale for £5 apiece. Refreshments are also on offer, in addition to talks and other fundraising opportunities, all to benefit the Hornsea National Coastwatch Institution.
Scarborough - Scarborough Fringe, June 21-30
Part of the Scarborough Fair series of events, Scarborough Fringe is the newest addition and the lineup and the first event of its kind in Scarborough. It features everything from music and theatre to spoken-word performances and comedy, in addition to children’s entertainment, so there’s really something for everyone here. Some events are free but others do require tickets for entry.
Whitby - Robin Hood’s Bay Folk Weekend, June 7-9
Picturesque Robin Hood’s Bay plays host to a weekend-long folk music festival, including concerts, dance, food & drink and more! This is a yearly event that draws visitors from around the country to enjoy the folk festivities. Best of all, all proceeds go to benefit the Royal Navy Lifeboat Institution.
